Hi, I’m Shiki and I love to travel with my son D. I was born in Taiwan, grew up in Thailand, went to college in the US, and live in Canada. Since my twenties, I would save money from work and travel abroad for vacation every year. When I became a single mom later in life, the thought of flying with one young child was daunting. But as they say, you don’t know until you try. When my son was three, I started flying internationally on my own with him — figuring things out as we go.
Traveling with my child means slower less complicated adventures, but I get to see places that I otherwise wouldn’t have planned to see. I found it is not about cramming in all the must-see tourist sites but more about enjoying the local flavors at a slower pace. We also try to take time to see animals and nature.
Recently, I took a break from full time work in architecture to do some traveling and home schooled my son while away from my country of residence. I hope these posts will give you some ideas for activities and destinations for travel with your children.
